SOUNDMACHINE

For using the store-and-forward service, you will need our custom hardware, an amplifier and loudspeakers. The hardware has to be connected to the Internet via LAN and to an amplifier connected to the loudspeakers. The audio output uses a 1/8” (3.5mm) stereo (headphone) jack. No additional software will be required to run the device. If your device has not already been activated, you will need a computer connected to the Internet for initial setup and managing of music, but you do not need a computer to use the SOUNDMACHINE player.

For a smooth playback experience we recommended a connection of 1.5Mbps or higher. The service will use 0.5Mbps or less. When the player is located outside of the USA, it will download music files only at midnight, and only when updates to the music occur.

The hardware uses DHCP for IP address assignment, and all data from SOUNDMACHINE will be transmitted over ports 80, 123, and 60888, using web standard formats. All network connectivity uses outgoing traffic. If your company has any filtering of sites, please be sure to whitelist *.sound-machine.com, and remove any potential time limits to the connection of the computer, or hardware. The printed activation code on the hardware and box is the hardware’s MAC address, which can be used for whitelisting purposes. The hardware does not have the capability to use a username/password security scheme to connect to your network.

To program the playlists, log in your SOUNDMACHINE account from the SOUNDMACHINE website, and make any changes there.
